Vbt bike and boat

I loved riding the e bikes and Bruno and Sophie were great getting us into the feel of every new town. The staff on the ship was a delight. We loved the Paris and Nice extensions. The hotels were in very convenient Transfers were also coordinated to the minute.

France Bike & River Cruise: Lyon to Nice

Not Typical of VBT

Nice cycling routes, river boat was very nice and food very good. But, it was more riverboat than cycling. There were only two lunches off the boat, we cycled through wine country with no winery stopes, the shore tours with the riverboat were terrible. The warm up cycling route was through heavy pedestrian traffic and was not safe. Communication of times and places to be was poor and as a result we often waited for uninformed or important fellow cyclists. VBT was not important to the riverboat operator and the VBT group was diluted withing the other riverboat passengers. The riverboat approach seemed to attract people who were simply disinterested in cycling. It just wasn't what I had previously experienced from VBT.

Great Bike Trails and Scenic Views

Great Bike Trails and Scenic Views. The routes were great and indeed rated correctly at easy. Only on the the last day did it get more rolling and a little challenging.

5 star Selfguided 🚴‍♀️ tour - VBT

A remarkable selfguided bike trip! Because it was selfguided, we took our own time pedaling and sight seeing. The bike app that loaded each and every turn and maps was amazing! It was also very good to have a short and a long loop biking so individuals can choose how many miles they want to bike every day. One suggestion would be to have rest days in between and make the trip longer. Chateau Pizay was superb as the other places we stayed. All in all i will give a 5 star rating. I am waiting for VBT to put up other self guided cycling tours.

Biking France Vineyard

The trip was amazing and very enjoyable. The only glitch was the tunnel was closed on one of the day trips and the copied map provided for the alternative route wasn’t very clear and we got lost. We called the support person but it was 2 hours before he called us back.

Super Bike Guides

The bike guides, Axel and Chris, were very knowledgeable about the area's history and customs. They also worked endlessly on the bikes to keep them in top running order for the cruisers. During down times at meals they shared about their lives and asked questions about our lives. They were patient with all the different personalities of cruisers.

Mosel Bike and Barge - An Idyllic Adventure

A trip well done from beginning to end, from bike to barge, from guides to chef and captain.

Great experience

The Mosel River trip was quite memorable. I loved cycling through the river valley, the history, the scenery, the vineyards and of course our VBT guides and staff on the barge. Everyone was very accomodating and ensured that we had a great experience. I'm glad we selected this destination and would recommend to any avid cyclist.

Boat and Bike

First timer and a wonderful experience. The staff and leaders are exceptional. Well organized and you are well cared for. Food, cleanliness of the boat and service were all above what was expected. Felt at home with everyone. Well organized group.

Bike + River Cruise=a great vacation

This was a lovely, leisurely bike trip. Being on a river boat afforded flexibility to join the Emerald excursions or even just spend an afternoon on the top deck reading. Of course one could also opt to do full day cycling on mostly flat, scenic routes. It's rare that all needs can be met on a bike trip but this one had most covered: great accommodations and food, diversity in program options, and as much cycling as you feel like doing. Did I mention that our guides were terrific as well?

Rhine Bike & River Cruise: Basel to Amsterdam

The Heart of Europe

This was our first VBT tour (really our first cycling tour) and we had an amazing time. Biking is a great way to cover some ground but see sights up close and at your own pace. For us, the standout features were as follows: (1) The guides were fun, energetic, creative, knowledgeable, and experienced, but also gave everyone plenty of space to explore on their own. (2) The itinerary was great. Because the terrain is mostly flat, covering the 20-30 miles per day was really not that hard. More importantly, the routes pass through a variety of settings -- countryside, small villages, suburban neighborhoods -- I felt like we got a nice window into touristy spots as well as "normal life" places. (3) The navigation app that we all used was very good. With a few exceptions, it was easy to navigate through some tricky spots and stay on course. This gives you the confidence you need to wander a little, lose the group, take some photos, and get back on track. (4) Lastly, the VBT program was nicely nested into the larger cruise program. We participated in some of the general cruise activities (walking tours, meals), while spending most of the time on our own riding itinerary. I'm sure this took some planning for VBT.

Bicycling France Normandy/Brittany

Planning and ride with VBT was priceless!. Our bicycle hosts did a fabulous job taking care of our every need. We also did the 3 day in Paris pre-trip, which if you do the 3 day Paris pre-trip, make sure you book all excursions in advance. We pre-booked Eiffel Tower, Palace Versailles, Tuk Tuk Paris, Louvre Museum. My one negative comment was in the city of Dinan. We had a tour guide that was obviously very familiar with the City, Architecture and history. Unfortunately, we could not hear a thing she said. She talked softly, kept walking away, talking to 1 or 2 people....you get the idea. It would have been much better if she had us wear earpieces while she talked. Other than that, fantastic time and would recommend this trip.

Fantastic trip!

The Burgundy Wine Route trip was an exceptional vacation...it was a great mix of activity, leisure, learning and sightseeing. The trip leaders were personable, knowledgeable, and fun-loving, our fellow travelers were all interesting and friendly people, and the food, accommodations, and scenery were all first class. The daily route length choices ensured that everyone would be happy with their activity level, too. I’d highly recommend this trip to anyone who loves good food, wine, and outdoor activity. The pre and post trip extensions are also well worth it...especially the pre-trip in Lyon...there was so much to explore there!

Exceptional vacation

This was our first VBT vacation and we have already registered for a second trip. Provence and the Alpilles is a beautiful region of France with abundant fruits, vegetables and other agriculture. The bicycle travel through the French countryside gives an up-close and personal travel experience.

Couldn't be better.

I LOVED this vacation. I am an avid biker; my husband is not; and we both enjoyed the levels of activity and flexibility. The vineyards and villages were amazing to see, especially by bicycle. Jean and Jean Francois took care of our every need, and the accommodations were wonderful. What's not to like?

Highly recommend - VBT and Alsace Region

This was our first VBT trip and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The guides were knowledgeable, positive, friendly, helpful and very professional. The GPS navigation was great. The routes were scenic, culturally diverse, and well thought out. The excursions/tours were interesting too. Recommend the ebike for the hills!
