Sicily: Biking the Southern Coastal Villages​

Palermo is a good starting point to discover Sicily. The city is large and very active, but the main monuments and interesting sites are within easy and pleasant walking distance from our hotel right in the city center.  Palermo is a fascinating town due to the different cultures that settled here over the centuries, from Romans and Byzantines, Arabs and Normans, to the French and Spanish. The cultural blend has left amazing monuments like the Palatine Chapel in the Normans Palace, home to some of the most beautiful mosaics in the world. Palermo is also the home of many colorful markets, like Vucciria, mainly a food market but selling many other tempting goods. The origins of these markets date to the tenth century. And of course, a visit to one of Palermo’s pastry shops is a must!

Arrive at the airport of Palermo, Italy, where a VBT representative meets you and helps you transfer (approximately 30 minutes) to your centrally located hotel in Palermo. At the hotel, our VBT representative will be available at a set time to answer your questions and help you organize your time in Palermo. An optional city walk will be offered at this time to help you make the most of the city. The cost will be shared among the number of participants.  The rest of the day is free to explore and dine on your own with your VBT City Information as your guide. The area is full of options for dinner.

Please note: If you arrive early, your hotel room may not be available until 2 pm. You may store your luggage with the Reception Desk.

Please note: VBT transfer times and departure points are finalized in advance and cannot be modified for individual guests. If you fly in earlier than the scheduled program dates, transportation from the airport will be at your own expense.

Continue to explore Palermo on your own. With the help of our City Information, you might make your way to Monreale to visit the cathedral with its amazing mosaics and cloister.

Perhaps you’ll choose a local market to explore. Capo, Vucciria or Ballarò are all within walking distance of our hotel. Make sure you bring your camera to take pictures of the colorful display of goods and food.
