In the heart of
Italy, the famed, undulating hills of Tuscany beckon.
And above a sprawling, unspoiled countryside, ancient
hilltop villages still hold vestiges of civilizations past. Delve into the
history and the distinct cultural identities of Siena’s 17 contrade, medieval districts,as we tour the ancient city with a local historian. Connect with Tuscany’s
expansive artistic heritage as we take in the frescoes of the Monte Oliveto
Maggiore. Sip Chianti at a renowned wine cellar in the village of San Felice.
And dine with Tuscany’s inviting locals at a rustic trattoria. Join VBT as we trace our way through centuries of
history along cobblestone walkways, ancient promenades and the cypress-lined
pathways of Tuscany.

What To Expect
This tour features a combination of mostly unpaved
footpaths, well-worn trails in the woods or in the countryside, and some very
short stretches on paved road. In Chianti, we also walk on typical “white
roads’ (well-traveled gravel roads shared by occasional auto traffic). Easy
flat stretches alternate with some short hills. Optional, more moderate walks
are often available. On rainy days, the footpaths can be wet and muddy. City
walks are on paved and cobblestone roads. Our VBT on-tour support vehicle is
available at specific meeting points for those who need assistance. Ideal for
enthusiastic beginners and experienced walkers.
