VBT Walking Vietnam Pre Trip Extension HanoiBefore beginning your Vietnam tour, experience life aboard a traditional Vietnamese sailing vessel, called a junk. Steeped in rich history, these romantic vessels have been the homes of both merchants and warriors since the time of China’s Han Dynasty. Your home for a night, this vessel has preserved its authentic heritage, adding modern conveniences and a professional crew. During your cruise, you have the opportunity to take a light trek to a nearby summit for a panoramic view of Halong Bay and to kayak in a scenic lagoon. You’ll also have the opportunity to stretch your legs with a three-mile walk. You’ll never forget the sunset and sunrise onboard our junk, in the incredible setting of Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This extension also includes a day trip from Hanoi to visit the Tay Phuong and Thay pagodas.

Only available with the Air Inclusive Package.

Single Supplement: $195

Day 1 - Depart the U.S. and begin your flight over the Pacific Ocean

Depart the U.S.  for Hanoi, Vietnam. The particulars of your arrival are detailed with your flight itinerary and airline tickets.

Day 2 - Arrive in Hanoi

Upon arrival in Hanoi, claim your luggage and clear customs. Your VBT representative will be holding a VBT sign and will help you transfer to your Hanoi hotel.

VBT provides you with City Information in your Final Travel Booklet that includes information and recommendations about what to see and do in Hanoi during your stay.

Please note: This transfer has been pre-arranged by VBT and does not require direct payment. Please confirm with the driver that this transfer has been pre-paid—if the driver requests funds from you, this is not your scheduled transfer and you should not take it.

Day 3 - Tour Tay Phuong Pagoda

After breakfast, meet your VBT representative in the lobby and transfer by minibus to Tay Phuong Pagoda, about 50 minutes outside of Hanoi. Here we'll enjoy a three-mile walk around the pagoda complex, admiring its detail and its 18th-century wood carvings of The Conditions of Man. Next, continue on to the nearby Thay Pagoda, built in the 11th century. Vietnam's famous water puppetry was created on a stage in this village lake.

We'll transfer back to Hanoi in the early afternoon where you'll have the rest of the day to explore on your own.

Day 4 - Halong Bay Excursion

After breakfast at your Hanoi hotel, meet your VBT representative in the lobby and transfer to Halong Bay (a journey of approximately three hours). Board the junk and check into your cabin before eating lunch on board as we set sail.

One of the world's most arresting natural wonders and a common backdrop for films set in Vietnam, Halong Bay—a UNESCO World Heritage Site— boasts more than 1,000 breathtaking islands, scattered along the coast of Bai Chay Beach. A variety of interesting, independent environments all exist side-by-side here, in this beautiful region of northern Vietnam.

During your cruise, you'll have a chance to venture ashore and hike up to a lookout point to take in a splendid panoramic view of the bay. You'll also get the chance to visit a small fishing village and to kayak in a scenic lagoon studded with coral reefs. Tonight, admire the sunset as you dine onboard.
