Portugal

This was our first VBT vacation. We were very impressed with the planning, accommodations, and route. It was a wonderful experience to bike along country roads with guides who knew the area. The hotels were lovely and the meals were delicious. Everything was top-notch.

Portugal was our 11th VBT trip and 12th biking trip. It was the best or at least equal to our other great trips. The guides were the best ever and the hotels , especially the Farm House, were excellent. The biking was challenging at times but very good overall. We highly recommend the trip and very much want to return to Portugal. Great food, great wine and a beautiful country. We felt very safe on the roads and highways as Portugal drivers are very courteous to bikers. Absolutely nothing to complain about and as with all VBT trips, a great value.

Enjoyed the freedom of not having a deadline to meet or being able to stop when I wanted to however wasn't aware of the fog this time of the year and often left me unable to see the vistas that were a part of the tour. Loved the small group size and the flexibility that came with a self-guided tour.

Absolutely epic trip! VBT Staff was great from the moment we booked the trip and throughout. Our accommodations were amazing in every city we rode into. Our luggage was always there before we were which was awesome. GPS app on the self-guided tour were perfect. We had perfect weather, which also really attributed to the amazing time we had.

We loved this trip! Beautiful and varied biking routes; knowledgeable, competent and engaging guides, top-notch hotels, delicious food and interesting cultural activities. I wish I could do it all over again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our first VBT experience. The tour route was very well laid out and we cannot not say enough about how impressive our tour leaders, David and Frederico, both of whom are natives of Portugal. Kudos to VBT for the way they planned and conducted our tour!

Incredible experience getting out to the villages and learning about the history of the land. The guides were terrific, tending to our needs while riding and along the way. I would suggest that if you are considering a road bike for this tour, think twice and go with the e-bike simply because there is a fair amount of areas where you will ride on cobblestone, which proved to be tricky for even the experienced road bikers in our group.

It was wonderful to visit rural parts of the Douro Valley on e-bikes. I was impressed with the challenging and scenic rides mixed with local tours to olive press, winery, port warehouse, and medieval city tour. We liked not having to pack our bags every morning for a hotel move and it was nice getting to know the service staff on the boat. Well done!

Landscapes of the Camino de Santiago was a great experience. I always thought "Seize the Moment" but this trip gave me a new perspective, "Let the moment Seize You". The beautiful scenery of this trip was amazing.

The landscape is beautiful, the hikes encompass a variety of terrain and experiences, and the wines are delicious!

The trip to Portugal offered a sampling of many different areas and their beauty . The guides were knowledgeable , fun, and very helpful. The food and wine were excellent . A highlight was a trip to Caiscais to walk along the sea and have lunch at a seafood restaurant. It was a trip to remember.

This was our first tour with Country Walkers. From the 1st morning where we meet our amazing guides, Helene and Ana, we knew we were in good hands! Both ladies were so knowledgeable of each area we visited. As this was also our 1st trip to Portugal, we learned a lot about the beautiful area we traveled through each day. Our accommodations were so comfortable and we really felt welcomed by each host making us feel right at home! Of course, each meal was very Portuguese flavored and so delicious. We look forward to another Country Walker’s Tour and would highly recommend the tours to anyone who loves walking through Nature!
