Portugal

Portugal was our 11th VBT trip and 12th biking trip. It was the best or at least equal to our other great trips. The guides were the best ever and the hotels , especially the Farm House, were excellent. The biking was challenging at times but very good overall. We highly recommend the trip and very much want to return to Portugal. Great food, great wine and a beautiful country. We felt very safe on the roads and highways as Portugal drivers are very courteous to bikers. Absolutely nothing to complain about and as with all VBT trips, a great value.

The trip was a perfect way to visit southern Portugal. The guides were awesome, always there to lend a hand or offer guidance. The bikes were outstanding - brand new fleet. The routes were interesting and scenic with little traffic. The food and wine were great. And above all the opportunity to spend time with old friends and to meet new friends was rewarding. Thanks

Portugal has unexpected beauty! An incredibly clean country with incredibly gorgeous surroundings. The accommodations were average, not as nice those we had on other guided tours from VBT. We missed not having daily insights to the culture and the surroundings that come with a guided tour. The Portuguese food we had was bland and average at best, but their bread and pastries were exceptional. The route was mostly easy, except for the last two days were moderate to difficult, which should be outlined in the trip description.

Loved this trip! The hotels were great, breakfast yummy and the bikes all performed well. Portugal is a beautiful country and the people there were very friendly and welcoming to us.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first VBT experience. The tour route was very well laid out and we cannot not say enough about how impressive our tour leaders, David and Frederico, both of whom are natives of Portugal. Kudos to VBT for the way they planned and conducted our tour!

We loved this trip! Beautiful and varied biking routes; knowledgeable, competent and engaging guides, top-notch hotels, delicious food and interesting cultural activities. I wish I could do it all over again!

The scenery and biking were incredible! However, dealing with the ship's docking schedule was somewhat problematic and left less time for exploring the towns and shortened the rides.

I enjoyed the trip. The rides were well conceived and challenging - except for those several towns with the coblestone streets.

The trip was VERY Good, but it should be noted that it is not a walk on one Camino, it is a taste of the areas around several camino routes. We walked, but we also were able to learn about cities in various locations, from excellent local guides, and we experienced visiting a cheese farm and a pottery Artist at work. If you are looking for a CAMINO hike with spiritual significance, this is not it, BUT if you want truly wonderful experience of Camino and the beautiful Northern Spain, this is a trip you should make a must do.

Really enjoyed the trip. The guides were excellent and very personable. The hiking took us through some very beautiful coastal inland areas. Some of the hiking was a bit strenuous but overall it was well planned. I would have preferred a bit more free time after the hikes in lieu of the pottery, cheese , and cider presentations.

This was our first Country Walkers trip and it exceeded our expectations in practically every way! Our guides (Helene and Rita) were excellent and filled our walks with historical and ecological knowledge and tidbits about wherever we were that day. The regions were fascinating, beautiful and seemed to be indicative of authentic Portuguese life away from the cities! Lodging was wonderful in two out of three locations but adequate and interesting in the third! We very much enjoyed meeting and spending this journey with the four other walking companions that we had. In essence, we had a great time, a lot of fun and felt like we really got to see the heart of Portugal! We absolutely loved it!
